President’s Message

May 2, 2016

Dear Garden Club by the Sea friends,  I can hardly believe my term is half-way complete!  The time has flown by, just as the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun!

April was a busy month for us.  GCBS members did a beautiful job hosting the SBGC.  We had a nice program and provided yummy refreshments!  For all of you who helped and those who attended, thank you for a job well done!    On April 18th and 19th, I proudly represented our club at the FFGC State Convention in Kissimmee. It was very interesting and I enjoyed meeting many other garden club members from across the state.  I’ve included a couple of pictures to share from the convention.  I plan on attending again next year with hopes of having some of you join me.  It would be fun to go as a group, so please keep that in mind for next year. It would be wonderful if some of you talented ladies would entry the state flower show.  We have so many designers who are quite capable of winning entries!  The flower show arrangements were unique and beautiful, but nothing our talented members can’t do!

Last, but certainly not least, April 26th we hosted the FFGC District VI Spring Meeting.  What a success it was thanks to the many of you who helped!  June Sims graciously allowed us to be her guests at the EGYC. She did a wonderful job arranging the details and selecting our delicious lunch menu!  Susan Vallette did an amazing job chairing the event.  The dining room looked beautiful with stylish gift bags on the tables.  She created stunning natural centerpieces, perfectly coordinated with our theme.  Jennifer Thompson presented a program on water conservation. Barbara Dial did a remarkable job as registrar.  She recorded guest registrations for the entire district and provided accurate bookkeeping of the event. Denise Bozeman designed beautiful programs for the meeting schedule.  Valerie Karas worked hard creating special ceramics for guests to purchase from the vendor table. Casie Garrett and I created several baskets for our silent auction.   Everyone did an amazing job.  I appreciate those of you who attended and everyone who worked hard to make the meeting a success!   I received countless compliments on a perfect day.  I was told it was the nicest meeting FFGC District VI has ever had!  I was so proud of our club.  Thank you!  I appreciate all of you and your support!  I look forward to seeing everyone at our May luncheon at EGYC on the 18th!
