Garden Remedies: Fight fungus on plants with aspirin. Dissolve 3 low dose aspirin in a gallon of water and spray every two to three weeks. The salicylic acid will boost the plants defense mechanism or SAR (Systemic Acquired Resistance) against fungus and maybe bacterial and viral infection. The aspirin water appears to have a beneficial effect on blossoming and fruiting as well.
Use cornmeal for root rot fungus in the soil: (Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Phytophthora or Fusarium) Add some grocery store corn meal to diseased soil around plants. The corn meal stimulates the good soil micro- organisms that keep the bad microbes under control. (Research conducted at Texas A&M Research Station in Stephenville on organic peanuts.)
